Project Aspire
Sadly this project has now come to an end- we are looking for further funds so we can continue to offer Project Aspire to even more people. If you are interested in developing you skills for employment and exploring your passions please get in touch we are currently operating a waiting list.
Over the 5 months of Project Aspire we successfully worked with 12 individuals who all explored their interests and achieved at least one certificate or award in their chosen field. for most this was the first time they had achieved an award. All participants are looking towards their next steps. Scroll down for some short descriptions of some of Aspire participants. I am sure you will agree they have achieved fantastic results, some of the participants will stay with us as we look for funds to progress their . ( ​​We are pleased to announce our new UK Shared Prosperity Government Funded project Project Aspire. Currently funded until November 2024.Through supported work placements within ReSource we will support adults with learning disabilities reach their goals to move closer to employment. Suzzie
Suzzie worked super hard to achieve a qualification in Food Safety and Hygiene. Suzzie worked hard in our cafe, Following opening ups and close down procedures as well as cooking yummy delights in between. Suzzie organised a fantastic and well attended Macmillan Cancer coffee morning raising over £90. Suzzie continues to volunteer with us but wants nothing more than to have paid employment in a cafe setting we are working hard to make this a reality
Lucy
Has been a long timer committed volunteer of ReSource and a firm favourite with our regular customers and we are looking to support her to move to employment. Lucy enjoys arts and crafts, making items for display and sale in our ScrapStore. Lucy makes sure our customers are happy. We are keen to support Lucy to develop her skills with support. With her confident 'Tiger' Lucy says "we should make heart wreaths for valentines day...laterns fo Chinese new year...keep your egg boxes..."
Phil
Phil has a passion for history, through Aspire Phil was supported in completing a history course. Alongside this Phil has been improving his independence through getting the bus to new places Phil has made an excellent display about the historic building our ScrapStore is based in. Phil enjoys looking and finding out about some of the more unusual items that come into our shop. Phil would like the opportunity to continue to explore his interests. "I feel a lot better about knowing which bus to get and what time. ...I ask the driver now to make sure...I am more relaxed about it and don't have to leave as early...I love working at the ReSource shop, its' out of this world.
Chelsea
Chelsea is a little camera shy but this does not detract from the excellent work she undertakes at ReSource. Chelsea is kind and caring and with Aspire had the opportunity to undertake training in mental health and is working towards developing skills in becoming ReSource's Mental Wellbeing Champion to support our diverse community of staff and volunteers.
A
A communicates via BSL and is Asperger's. A has undertake a high level training course in workplace Peer Mentoring. A is concerned about the wellbeing of others, and advocates at a political level for changes in BSL policy as a language recognition is keen to teach others BSL and support staff and volunteers within ReSource as a Peer Mentor in the near future.
Ethan
There is never a dull moment when Ethan is around as he boosts everyone's confidence and belief in themselves. Ethan enjoys hard graft, and will tell us that the finds tasks easy with his 'big guns' (muscles). Ethan will turn his hand to lots of different tasks at ReSource and has many talents. There is lots of moving donations in our shop which he enjoys and sorting out our recycling, tidying and displaying items. We would to support Ethan to continue his excellent work with ReSource.
Terry
With Aspire Terry has engaged in number of activities to explore his interests and possible areas of work. Terry has found a passion with working outdoors and an interest in woodworking and generating unique ideas and bespoke piece of work. Terry now volunteers with ReSource as we look for opportunities. "I love working outdoors in the garden with my hands"
Our Aspire participants impressed other organisation so much that they were funded to attend Bryntysillio Outdoor Education Centre most of the group undertaking activities that they had never tried before! The smiles say it all!

How do I get involved?

-contact us on the details below, or ask someone to contact us on your behalf
-Our Aspire Keyworker will meet with you to complete a person centred plan which will include your details, interests, skills and the support you will need whilst on your work placement.
-The Aspire keyworker will support you to undertake your chosen work placement in ReSource
-There will be opportunities for you to gain awards and take part in training.
Peer Mentor Opportunity
Project Aspire are also on the lookout for two Peer Mentors, this is for an adult with a learning disability that is interested in gaining skills to support others.

What work placements are available
ReSource aims to offer different opportunities recognising that everyone has different skills and interests. Our project sites are based in Ruthin and Denbigh.
Work placement opportunities include:-

-Work in our ReSource Scrap Store, including:- customer service, sorting donations, stacking shelves
​
-From the Earth Community Cafe, including baking/cooking, serving customers, cleaning
​
-Community Gardens at Cae Dai Denbigh including planting, harvesting, and outdoor maintenance.
